Learn Product Discovery And Validation Skills (PPDV)

Overview

In this hands-on, practical one-day course, we get our hands dirty through Product Discovery and Validation. We’ll explore a potential product, identify and validate/invalidate assumptions, and run experiments to test our hypotheses, increasing our chances of tackling the right problem with a fit-for-purpose solution.

We aim to increase value creation by discovering what we should not invest in and by increasing our chances of creating the business and user value we aim for.

Learning Outcomes

  • Position your product to better fit the needs of your users by understanding them
  • Manage risk by validating sooner than later and maximizing the amount of work not done
  • Experiment deliberately by clarifying your assumptions and quantitatively testing them
  • Use empiricism to refine and discover paths to value iteratively and incrementally
  • Explain how Discovery and Validation fit into agile delivery approaches (such as Scrum)

Learning Objectives

  • Learn the advantages of thinking of work as problems to solve, and the Business Problem Statement’s role in this
  • Focus on customer-centric outcomes and impacts over delivery outputs
  • Learn the advantages of thinking of work as problems to solve, and how Business Problem Statements can frame the discussion
  • Understand how to design experiments to be as low-cost, low-risk as possible, and how to “ride the Truth Curve” as you increase investment
  • Leave with some hands-on discovery techniques that you can use when exploring value.
  • Embrace the need to release and use measurements to validate outcomes
