Amdocs: Scaling Kanban Across a 10,000-Person Organization
How Amdocs leveraged the Kanban Method to stabilize and accelerate delivery across global business units and professional services.

Amdocs, a global leader in customer experience software for the communications and media industry, faced the ultimate scaling challenge: how to bring agility to an organization of over 10,000 people spread across multiple continents.
The Challenge
With divisions delivering complex enterprise solutions (Billing, CRM, OSS) in the US, UK, India, Canada, Brazil, and more, Amdocs needed a way to stabilize delivery and improve throughput without the disruption of a “one-size-fits-all” framework rollout.
The Intervention
Yuval served as the engagement lead for several years, focusing on a pull-based approach to change. Key elements included:
- Kanban Method Adoption: Implementing Kanban to visualize work-in-progress (WIP) and manage flow across professional services and delivery groups.
- Internal Agile Guild: Building a sustainable internal capability by establishing an agile guild that could support ongoing transformation across business groups.
- Multi-Framework Pragmatism: Applying Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe where they fit best, rather than dogmatically enforcing one method.
The Outcome
The transformation of the Amdocs SBG (Professional Services) group became a landmark case study in the Lean/Agile community, presented at multiple Lean Kanban conferences. The engagement successfully moved massive global divisions from project chaos to stable, predictable flow.
The partnership with Amdocs started in 2008 and continued for over a decade, demonstrating the “stickiness” and long-term impact of a principles-first approach to organizational agility.
