Professional Scrum Product Owner™ – Advanced (PSPO-A)
The Professional Scrum Product Owner™ – Advanced (PSPO-A) is a hands-on, activity-based course that focuses on helping experienced Product professionals such as Product Managers and Product Owners expand their ability to establish a vision, validate their hypotheses, and ultimately deliver more value to their stakeholders. The course goes beyond the topics explored in starter product ownership classes such as Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) and SAFe PO/PM by deepening the attendee’s understanding of the role by exploring commonly misunderstood and desired Product Ownership stances.
Students should have at least one year of experience as a Product practitioner in an agile/Scrum environment to make the most out of the experience. Having previously taken a Product Ownership class such as PSPO, CSPO, or SAFe PO/PM or passing the PSPO1 assessment is recommended but not required.
The course also includes a free attempt at the globally recognized Professional Scrum Product Owner II (PSPO II) certification exam.
I typically teach the PSPO-A as part of an agile/scrum boost engagement either as a standalone class or an immersive program with the Product Ownership community of practice. This works very well in an organization that is practicing SAFe or a similar approach – especially due to the prevalence of misunderstandings about product ownership in large scale organizations and the value of realigning around desired product ownership/management stances.
