With markets and customer needs constantly changing, organizations need a new operating system that helps them adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities. Even organizations using Agile product development techniques are still constrained by their overall approach to management. Objectives and key results (OKRs) are a popular management system designed to help organizations achieve strategic alignment, and evidence, and empowerment-based management at scale.
In the Modern Leadership with OKRs workshop, participants learn about the key principles and practices of OKRs and Evidence-based Management (EBM) and how to apply them effectively:
- Build an evidence-guided organization by learning what/how to measure in your organization leveraging the EBM Key Value Areas (Unrealized Value, Current Value, Time to Market, and the Ability to Innovate) to figure out your KPIs.
- How to use OKRs to deploy a strategy, managing the unknown and complexity through experimentation and adapting goals along the way.
- How to nurture the right culture for OKRs – using clear goals, appropriate measures, and trust to enable self-management and autonomy.
- Shift the OKR conversation away from measuring activity toward focusing on customer and business outcomes.
- Common OKR anti-patterns and how to avoid them and the key ingredients for successfully implementing OKRs
- How to apply OKRs in different contexts
- Integrating OKRs into your ecosystem
Participation includes a private implementation strategy/application coaching session to help you get started applying modern leadership with OKRs and EBM in your organization.
Who is this workshop for
The Modern Leadership with OKRs workshop is for leaders and practitioners who are focused on launching/improving a strategic alignment/execution approach such as OKRs, product leaders focused on evolving their organization from a “feature factory” to an outcomes orientation and empiricism. Typical roles of participants are Chief of Staff, VP Strategy, CPO/VP Product, PMO, VMO, IT/engineering leaders, and agile practitioners looking to make an impact on the wider organization.
Your Trainers – Yuval Yeret and Patricia Kong
Yuval is an agility coach and trainer working with startups, scale-ups, and enterprises such as Gillette, Dyno Therapeutics, MightyBuildings, Siemens, Intel, and CyberArk. Yuval is passionate about leveraging the Scrum principles of Empiricism, Self-Management, and Continuous Improvement to tackle a variety of products ranging from classic software products, through IT systems, all the way to cyber-physical systems and Business Processes such as Marketing and Sales/Revenue.
Yuval provides private Professional Scrum, SAFe, Product, and OKR training, often combined with Implementation Strategy follow-up workshops to tackle real-world challenges and move from training into action.
Yuval is a Scrum.org PST, a co-creator and steward of the Professional Scrum with Kanban (PSK) class and a co-author of the Kanban Guide for Scrum Teams, “Holy Land Kanban” & “SAFe from the trenches”.
He is also a SAFe Fellow and SPCT and is acknowledged worldwide for his work bringing together the best of the different agile approaches through principles-orientation and pragmatism.
Patricia Kong is the Product Owner of the Scrum.org enterprise solutions program, which includes the Nexus Framework, Evidence-Based Management, Scrum Studio, and Scrum Development Kit. She also created and launched the Scrum.org Partners in Principle Program. Patricia is a people advocate and is fascinated by organizational behavior and misbehaviors. She emerged through the financial services industry and has led product development, product management, and marketing for several early-stage companies in the US and Europe. At Forrester Research, Patricia worked with their largest clients focusing on business development and delivery engagements. Most recently, Patricia is a co-author of the book Unlocking Business Agility with Evidence-based Management (EBM)

PAL-EBM Professional Scrum Certification
Modern Leadership with OKR and EBM leverages the Scrum.org EBM framework and the PAL-EBM workshop
All participants completing this course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Agile Leadership – Evidence Based Management (PAL-EBM) assessment. The industry-recognized PAL-EBM certification requires a minimum passing score of 85%. Class participants who attempt the PAL-EBM assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.
